Zaanse Shans
Zaanse Schans is a place half an hour drive from Amsterdam, which is an open-air museum. There you will be in the real Netherlands, you will see windmills, you will learn stories about Dutch crafts and you will eat traditional food.

The first place we visited in Zaanse Shans was the famous wooden shoe factory. The craftsman gave us a whole show about the creation of this type of shoes. After that we walked around the building and looked at the variety of shoes – for wedding, for every day, shiny with Swarovski crystals and many others. Of course, in the end we found ourselves in a special souvenir corner. We love to buy souvenirs because that way we seal the beautiful memories even better.
The next factory is for iconic Dutch cheeses. There we listened to a story for their production from a lady with Dutch traditional clothes, hat and shoes. After our tasting of different cheese types, we could not have any choice but buying several types of this delicious food. Special knives to cut pieces of cheese are also available for buying.
The next traditional shop is a diamond one. You can buy incredible diamond jewelry and get the information about the mineral history.
After that you can walk around until you reach the windmills. You can go inside, if, of course, you have time. We had no time, but we made great photos instead of that.
You can try Dutch pastries and drink a cup of coffee enjoying the relaxing atmosphere and fresh air.
